Name That Book Club 2022-2023

Does your child love to read, enjoy a challenge, and will be in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade next year? Would they like to be in our Fox Name That Book Club?  Attached is a list of 25 books that have been chosen by Klein ISD Elementary Librarians to be a part the Name That Book Club for 2022-2023. This list includes a mixture of current and classic literature, from a wide variety of genres.

If your child would like to participate, and be on a Name That Book Team next school year, he/she may begin reading as many books as possible from this list starting now.  Your child will need to take notes in a special notebook about each book they read, about the characters, setting, and plot.  Teams will begin forming and meeting during the school day in September 2022 to see how they are progressing with reading the books.

We will form into teams of up to 8 students, so each student will be responsible for reading at least 10 books on this list by Thanksgiving, but reading more books and having a deep knowledge of them will help make their team more competitive.  Each team will vote on one captain.  The teams will compete in our campus competition against each other at Fox in December 2022, and the top team from our school will go on to compete in our district competition against other Klein elementary schools in February 2023.

Students will be asked to identify the title of a book when quotes from the books are read.  They may work as a team to decide on their answer, and then the captain will raise up a card that shows the title of the book chosen.  The goal is to build reading skills and motivate readers, and this is a great opportunity to have fun with reading while enjoying teamwork and competition.  The students will learn to analyze the books they read in a way that will help them as they read in school and in the real world.  We hope they will come out of the experience loving reading even more than they do today!  If your child is seriously interested in joining our Name That Book Club, please fill out the form sent home and return it to the library, or email me with questions.
Happy Reading (and note taking)!
